They just keep changing the lore backstory, even if 3 months still held true for xcom before it fell, there had to be a lot of shortcuts to get to the idea that we tapped into psionics let alone train more then one person. A lot of features look good but if this backstory is true then am going to find it annoying. I like things to be well, consistent. They just keep changing the lore backstory, even if 3 months still held true for xcom before it fell, there had to be a lot of shortcuts to get to the idea that we tapped into psionics let alone train...See more

Nah, I don't see how they could possibly help the war effort...

Just watched the trailer again to see if I missed something, but I dont see the issue with the backstory. Can you elaborate, brit? :)

They aren't saying anything about our side having psionics before we lost in this trailer though?

They are only saying the Templars are better psionics than anything we can accomplish?

I just read the text from the news, and there seems to be the detail: Geist, the founder of the Templars, was "one of the original psionic soldiers" who survived the fall of the XCOM Project. He and some others then developed their own almost religios approach to psionic energy. Hm, as the original lore states that the XCOM Project failed after the base was attacked (in XCOM:EW) I dont really see a problem with the timeline (or a change at all) - I remember I had Psi troops available when the Base Defense mission popped up, IIRC.I just read the text from the news, and there seems to be the detail: Geist, the founder of the Templars, was "one of the original psionic soldiers" who survived the fall of the XCOM Project...See more

Wasn't the timeline placed for xcom collapse three months into the war? Around the time carapace armour would be made. It's likely they may have condensed some research and gambled ahead with the governments dropping their funding.

Well it turns out it IS yet another inconsistency. Oh well

Still possible that some guys kept going the psionic route after XCOM fell - after all, Sectoids etc. did roam the earth and show Psi skills so there sure was plenty to discover for willing disciples of Geist... :)
